Wallingford was a city in Oxfordshire. The League of St Alexander recruited children from the local schools and the nearby location of Oxford. Andrew Whicher came from the city and ended up revealing the location of the infant Lyra Belacqua to the Office of Child Protection.[1] There were dredgers in Wallingford which Mr Anscombe thought were flimsy.[2]
