The Thames[1] was a river in Brytain in Lyra's world. It ran through Oxfordshire and London. On the banks of the river was The Trout Inn, run by Malcolm Polstead's parents, Brenda and Reg Polstead, the Godstow Priory, the Wallingford Priory and, in London, Marisa Coulter's flat. It also housed the River Giant.
Tributaries
The Duke's Cut connected the Oxford Canal to the Thames.
Boats
In The Book of Dust, the Mermaid and the La Belle Sauvage canoe appeared in the water once the Thames was flooded.
