Reg Polstead's brother was the innkeeper at La Belle Sauvage, a pub in Richmond. His brother Reg was also an innkeeper and his nephew Malcolm Polstead named his canoe La Belle Sauvage after the pub. The pub's sign was of a beautiful lady who had done something brave.[2]
