Pagdzin tulku was a monk and a healer. His dæmon had settled as a bat. One year, Pagdzin tulku cured an outbreak of white fever. The following year, a young girl from a Himalayan village named Ama visited him at his monastery in Cho-Lung-Se, asking him for a cure for a "sleeping sickness" which was supposedly afflicting a male relative. The healer gave her a powder and told her how to administer it, admonishing her to be more truthful next time.
