Mr Hanway was a man from Will's world who was a boxing referee and coach. He refereed a fight between Toby and Will Parry and broke apart a small scrabble after Toby mocked Will's mum. Mr Hanway noticed Elaine wasn't acting right and told Will, after, that, should he need, his door was always open.[1]
After Will's house was ransacked by two agents looking for information on John Parry, Will took his mother to Mr Hanway for safety whilst he returned to the house to clear it up and promised to return shortly.[2]
