The Maid of Portugal was the gyptian Giorgio Brabandt's boat. He used it to help Lyra Silvertongue escape from Oxford to get to the Fens. It was powered by an engine.[1]

Layout[edit | edit source]

The Maid of Portugal had a galley where food was cooked on a naphtha stove, as well as a cockpit where the boat was steered from. Connected to the galley was a cabin, which was thought of as warm and comfortable by Lyra.[1]
