The death of Magda told Lyra Silvertongue and Will Parry how cross the lake to reach the land of the dead. He explained to them about deaths hide from people who were afraid of them. Magda was not afraid of him, and the pair of them lived in kindness and friendship. His voice was a dry-cracked-nasal tone and was notably not a living voice.[1]
