Lapland was a country in Lyra's world. Its capital was Helsinki.[1] Lake Enara was a large lake in Lapland which was home to the Lake Enara clan of witches.[2] Lord Asriel was planning an expedition here.[3] Lapland was ruled by a king.[4]
The book Songs and Ballads of the Lapp Kingdoms, edited by J.P. Savinen and published by Smith and Strange Ltd, was most likely written about songs from Lapland.
Part of the German Ocean was in between Lapland and England.[5]
