A gyropter, also known as a gyrocopter, was a type of aircraft used in combat by Lord Asriel's side in the war against the authority. It was known to been flown by King Ogunwe's troops and was involved in the battle in the Valley of the Rainbows, outside the cave where Marisa Coulter was keeping her daughter, Lyra Silvertongue. One gyropter was shot down during this battle.[1] Its cockpit was similar to that of the intention craft.[2] Lord Asriel flew in one to rescue Malcolm Polstead, Alice Parslow and Lyra from the River Thames.[3] The engines of gyropters made a chopping noise.[1]
