Europe was a continent in Lyra's world and was the equivalent of the Europe in Will's world. Brytain, the country where Oxford was located, was in Europe. It was said that the Tartars were coming to invade the whole of the west of Europe.[1] As well as being the continent's name, it was also the name of a country that covered most of mainland Europe.[2]
