Ellen was a woman from Lyra's world who met with Lyra Silvertongue, Dick Orchard, Billy Warner and Rachel for a talk at the White Horse. Billy introduced her as working in the telephone exchange. As Billy and Lyra began talking, she said she'd had enough and walked off, Billy following. Her dæmon had the form of a starling.[1]
