Eliot Newman was the chancellor of the Private Purse. His office was located in White Hall.[1]
During his first year as chancellor, Newman met with Glenys Godwin, the director of Oakley Street, to inform her that the division was going to be shut down. He believed that Oakley Street was useless and out-dated, and planned to move all of its members to the domestic civil service.[1]
