Cornmarket Street also known as the Cornmarket was a road in Oxford that led into St Aldate's. It was the main shopping street of the city. Sewy's Lane connected it with New Inn Hall Street.[1] When the River Thames burst its banks in the floods of 1986, Malcolm Polstead found La Belle Sauvage swept into this street.[2]
