The Blue Hotel, also known as al-Khan al-Azraq in Arabic,[1] or the City of the Moon, or Selenopolis or Madinat al-Qamar in Arabic,[2] was a desolate city in the Levant, Asia.
History
A thousand years, or possibly more, before Lyra Silvertongue entered the city, it used to be a great city with temples, palaces, bazaars, parks, fountains and many other beautiful things. Then, a group came down and slaughtered everyone in the city leaving it plain. It stayed empty for centuries as people said it was haunted and eventually became a place where dæmons without their humans would go.[3] It was also said to be haunted by phantoms and ghasts.[4]
