Anbaricity was the name given in Lyra's world to the physical phenomenon known as electricity in Will's world. Anbaricity had a wide number of effects, such as anbaric current and anbaromagnetic charges.[1] Anbaric power was used for lamps[2] and devices such as the Maystadt anbaric scalpel.[3] There was an Anbaric Park on the road to Yarnton[4], anbaric cranes on Novy Odense[5], anbarographs in Jordan Library[6] and Mr Taphouse owned an anbaric drill.[7]
Anbaric cables, used to transport anbaricity, were insulated by cauchuc, piled on the wharves of London.[8]
